What is SPOT?

Developed by Alencon, SPOT or String Power Optimizer and Transmitter, is a utility-scale DC-DC optimizer. The SPOT energy harvesting system has a number of benefits for both existing and new solar PV plant systems.

SPOT for Existing Solar PV Plants

 

SPOT is a complete energy harvesting system easily retrofitted into any existing PV plant with a central inverter.

The deployment of SPOT generates from 5 to 10% more energy from an existing PV plant by offering more granular maximum power point tracking (MPPT), voltage step up to minimize conduction losses and fixed voltage to the inverter to improve DC to AC power conversion efficiency.

SPOT is also an effective operations and maintenance (O&M) tool because it allows the isolation of incident faults to the string level and provides up-to-the-minute performance data on your PV array. Particularly when used in concert with the Alectris ACTIS Solar ERP software platform, SPOT provides excellent visibility on the solar asset’s performance.

SPOT for New Solar PV Plants

Alencon’s SPOT, String Power Optimizer and Transmitter, is also an effective solution to maximize energy production from new solar PV plants.

A complete energy harvesting system easily specified and installed into a new PV plant with a central inverter, SPOT facilitates the generation of increased energy by offering more granular maximum power point tracking (MPPT), voltage step-up to minimize conduction losses and fixed voltage to the inverter to improve DC to AC power conversion efficiency.
