We just returned from KEY ENERGY in Rimini, and the difference compared to previous editions was clear:
the conversations were more direct, more practical, and focused on immediate delivery.
Our VP summed it up best: the market is booming, people have real needs now, and the likely bottleneck will be capacity, qualified teams, realistic timelines, and accountable execution.
In this post you’ll find:
-
a quick recap of what stood out at KEY ENERGY Rimini 2026
-
the top questions EPC & O&M teams asked us (coverage, timelines, capacity)
-
what the “booming market” signals mean and why execution capacity may be the bottleneck
What visitors asked us (again and again)
Across EPC and O&M discussions, the most common questions were:
- Coverage & mobilization: “Do you cover all of Italy? How quickly can you mobilize technicians?”
- EPC sizing: “What plant sizes can you build?”
- O&M capacity: “How many O&M managers do you have, and how many plants does each cover?”
- Delivery timelines: “What’s a realistic EPC timeline to complete a project?”
- O&M scope: “What plant sizes can you support under O&M?”
These questions did not arise from curiosity; they’re about procurement. The intent is real.
What this means for 2026 in Italy
- Execution capacity is becoming the differentiator
When demand accelerates, the biggest risks are missed deadlines, stretched teams, and low‑quality delivery.
Buyers want to see:-
- credible schedules,
- real coverage models,
- accountability (who owns what, and when),
- a partner that can scale without losing control.
-
- O&M is being evaluated like a performance business
Operators are squeezing every last bit of efficiency. They’re looking beyond “basic maintenance” and asking for:-
- transparent reporting,
- practical processes that reduce downtime
- teams that can actually mobilize when needed.
-
- Agrivoltaics still has heat but permitting remains a gating factor
We also saw strong interest in agrivoltaics, but the decision cycle can still slow down around permitting and “bankability” questions.
